Sith Temple Romp:

A new enemy has risen up against the New Republic... they call themselves The Nightstalkers, a group of viscous pirates led by Mask, a dark Jedi.  They have been very little of a threat so far, lacking the manpower to do much damage... but all that has abruptly changed.

Some Archeologists from New Alderan had rediscovered the lost planet of Despayre... which apparently was *NOT* destroyed by the Death Star as once thought.  In their searching they came across an amazingly well preserved temple of some sort.  Gye Santhas, the leader of the expedition insisted on exploring it further... only two members of the twelve person expedition ever got out alive again.  The survivors told tales of walking dead, great monsters, and numerous traps... and if one could survive these traps they would gain the prize... the thorn.  This artifact is said to increase the owner's power a millionfold, turning him into a veritable god.  Mask wants this power and is on his way to Despayre to gain it.

That's where the group comes in.  A few jedi students, some scientists, archeologists, and soldiers were petitioned to join in an expedition to Despayre to find the thorn and destroy it before it falls into the wrong hands.  They managed to get to Despayre moments before the Nightstalkers, and a space battle ensued.  Mask's ship was crippled in space and our heroes have been forced to make a crash landing on the planet's surface.  The group must hurry to the temple, as Mask could get his ship working again at any time, land, and  take the prize for himself.

A member of the original expedition has come along to serve as a translator for some of the runes, and states that many of the entrances and doorways into the temple are composed of strange puzzle locks...where one must perform some kind of act to be able to continue further. If the puzzle is done incorrectly then strange creatures will rise up and attack.  He relates where they came across one such puzzle where it seemed that some kind of sacrifice needed to be performed, so they caught a creature outside and killed it in the indicated spot... an instant later two hulking beasts appeared almost out of nowhere and devoured six members of the party, including Gye.

The thorn is in the heart of the temple, and it is imperative that they get to it before Mask does.  His lackeys are also here and there in the temple and probably waiting to make trouble and delay the group.  If Mask gets to the Thorn first, he must be stopped  at any cost before he gains full power over the item.

If the group fails too many of the puzzles, Mask will have gotten to the artifact first.  If not, they will have a final confrontation in the main chamber against his pirate lackeys, him, and then the 'guardian' of the artifact.  Jedi powers for characters will be somewhat limited, but still in the useful range. (healing would probably be very good.)

If Mask HAS the thorn, then he will order the guardian to attack while he works on building up his power.  After a bit, he'll destroy the guardian himself and then leap out to attack the group himself.  He will be very VERY hard to beat... and if the group already has several wounded from previous battles then there's a good chance that most of them won't survive this.

No more than 3 Jedi students
Soldiers
Ex-Pirate (maybe he wants vengeance on Mask for something?)
Scholar/Archeologist
Medic

Puzzle ideas:

(sacrifice)
Use blood covered summoning tile - PC must cut his hand and drop blood on the tile to pass through safely.  Pictogram of figure holding his hand, palm up with a knife hovering over it, palm down with blood dripping on tile, and then passing through the archway.

(worship)
Statue - Player must kiss the foot of the statue to pass.  Pictograms show figure with his face pressed against the foot of each statue.

(tribute)
Dais with a bowl or vase on top - PC must place some kind of item within the vase.  If it is valuable then there will be no problem.  If something like a rock is dropped in then the monsters will attack. Pictogram of figure dropping object with 'sparkle lines' emanating from it into the vase.

(power)
Another statue - PC must destroy the statue to pass.  Pictogram of figure 'zapping' the statue with some kind of force power and then walking through.

(obedience)
Monster (4 armed Stigian) - PC must do what the monster tells them, otherwise he attacks.  He will order the members to walk through his passageway with blindfolds on... and warns them that he will destroy them if they remove them at all.  Monster will not answer any other questions that do not directly relate to his trap.  Have lots of tickly things poke them along the way.  Pictogram of monster pointing authoritatively at a kneeling figure, then the figure walking through the archway with the monster making a 'you may pass' gesture.

(If the group breezes  through the traps and you need to burn time, you can have stuff like pits, animated straw men skeletons (I.E. guys for the group to just knock over without too much trouble), attacking pirates, wounded pirates that can be questioned, maybe even insane survivors from the New Alderan expedition running amok through the halls.)
