| Murder in the Big House:
A group of Rebel soldiers and independent mercs are being smuggled into Imperial space in a most interesting manner... they've been given a cabin aboard the luxury yacht known as 'Hetchel's Key'. For the past week they've been wined, dined, and attended nightly parties. Its been wonderful... perfect... until....
While stopping over at a planet for refueling, the group received a message that their cover is about to
be blown... that there's an Imperial spy... or several of them somewhere on the ship and it's up to the group to sniff them out before the next stopover in one week's time and eliminate them quietly and erase all trace of them from the ship's records before it's too late. There is also the matter of deleting any messages from the ship's computer banks before the ship comes out of hyperspace to send them.
Midway into that faithful week things go from bad to worse. The ship
seems to be on an alternate course and the captain has vanished. Now the group must attempt to calm the panic-stricken crew lest they riot, keep their true identities under wraps lest the crew and passengers turn their fear and anger against them, and try and get the ship back on course and locate the captain before its too late.
There are, in truth, several factions at work on the ship. First a slicer who poked thorough the ship's records and found out that the
group's identifications were all fake, two royal imperial guards who were on their way to Coruscant and have gotten this information from the slicer, and several members of the serving staff droid crew who have started acting independently due to some experimental programming and have captured the captain and are now in control of the ship.
The slicer just wants money out of this and can be bribed to keep his trap shut. the two royal guards on the other hand have such no
tendencies. they will sneak into the group's cabin at 'night' (this is space after all) and try to quietly take them out in there... or they'll mingle along with the crowd during a party and try to lure the player's to someplace quiet. the droids intend to fly the ship to Quockra and use the passengers as workers.
If word of the droid's plan gets to the two guards before the PC's take them out.... they'll offer to temporarily join with the group to try and take them out
before it's too late. the slicer won't care... and will only help if he's paid to.
To burn time, have some parties... throw red herrings around.
Have a drunken Chadra-Fan fall in love with one of the PC's during a party, hold a game of sabaac, have a drinking contest, give the players the chance to swindle some of the more gullible rich guys out of some of their cash, give them exotic food and see if any of them actually eats it, if there's a female in the group... have one of the royal guardsmen ask them to dance and them start making comments about the 'filthy rebels' or the 'mercenary independent scum' or somesuch. have some thug offer them 1000 credits if they can beat him in a wrestling match, make up a quick mini mystery of one of the droids getting caught stealing some jewelry from one of the patrons and the players have to chase after it to recover the stolen bauble, bring in some Casanova man (or woman) who is hideously ugly and see how creatively the group ditches her, have some of the systems in the cabin malfunction like the extendable shower head in the bathroom wrapping around a showering PC and tangling them up, the magic fingers in one of the beds malfunctions and has to be stopped before it shakes the room apart, have a servant droid follow one of the players around and constantly give them cups of coffee... the possibilities are endless!
Anyhow, lots of things will probably go wrong with anything computer related around the PCs as the slicer gets his jollies (electronic equipment in the room breaks, food tastes terrible as the cooking droids run amok, showers only have cold water... etc.)... but it'll gibe the PCs a chance to track him down and figure out who he is. If the PCs are on the clueles side then one of the servant droids could decide to pound the slicer in the middle of a party and the PCs have to
rescue him... then the slicer spills his guts. I'd rather avoid this scenario if possible though... too easy.
If the captain isn't found and/or the ship isn't brought back on course before the end of the 'week'... then the ship lands on quockra and
the players will have to fight off a bunch of droids. the captain will get dragged out of hiding (he can be hidden anywhere you want.. in one of the unoccupied cabins, the cargo bay, wherever) and the group can make their final stand. The droids weren't expecting much resistance since the ship was supposed to be filled with a bunch of rich snobs so a quick strike can take them out. If you need to encourage the players to do something at this point then maybe the droids start weeding out the older and overweight people in the group and starts killing them in front of the players. If the player still sit idly by... then they get turned into worker slaves and live horribly ever after, end of game. Reinforcements will show up and attempt to relieve the players of their possessions. The two royal guards (if they're still alive) will choose to attack. By this point the odds will be much harder and there's a good chance that the group won't make it through. Basically, the longer they wait, the harder the game's going to be.
